Choosing a texture

Choose a textur 01

What's your hair type? Knowing the texture of your hair and the shape of your curls makes choosing extensions much easier. In our texture guide, we'll help you distinguish between straight, wavy and curly hair and guide you to the right extensions for you.

Hair types are often divided into four categories: Straight, Wavy, Curly, and Kinky. Each category contains subcategories A-C. These subcategories are based on the shape and diameter of the curls. In each category, type A has a less defined shape and looser curl, type B has a defined shape and a curl diameter between types A and C, and type C has a distinct shape and tighter curl.

Before choosing extensions, you need to work out which is your hair type. Remember that just as we're all unique, your hair is also unique. Your hair may have more than one hair type or be in-between different hair types. If you have different hair types, Rapunzel recommends that you choose extensions for the hair type you have the most of. If you are in-between two hair types, we recommend that you choose extensions for the hair type with the looser locks.

Texture chart 01

Type 1: Straight

Hair in this category has no curls, but is still divided into 1a, 1b and 1c as straight hair can have different ways of falling.

1a is very straight, fine hair without any hint of curls. Type 1a hair has little volume and a natural shine.

1b is straight hair with that falls lightly. Hair type 1b has more volume and is thicker hair than 1a. The hairs can be slightly bent.

1c is straight hair that falls. Type 1c hair has a lot of volume and is thick hair. Light waves can appear in parts of the hair.

Rapunzel of Sweden's straight range

Rapunzel of Sweden’s straight hair range falls into category 1b. The hair is straight and falls very lightly. The hair’s natural suppleness allows it to be worn by all hair types in the Straight category. You’ll find every kind of straight hair here.

Type 2: Wavy

Hair in this category is wavy with slightly thicker hair than type 1. The hair has S-shaped curls and natural volume.

2a is fine hair with a slightly wavy texture. The hair can be seen close to the roots, but changes to slightly s-shaped waves in the lengths.

2b has more defined, S-shaped waves. The shape of the waves is often described as “beach curls” or “beach waves”. As in category 1a, the hair may appear straighter, the closer we get to the root.

2c has pronounced S-shaped waves from root to tip. The hair is thick with a lot of volume and is bordering on curliness.
